Guild of St. Francis

St. Francis Guild is a group of women who are committed to this parish and individually and collectively support the church through work, prayer, and giving monetarily. Their strengths and talents are evident in many areas of our church life.

The Guild serves our Lord in many ways:

We prepare cookies at Christmas for a group of shut-ins as well as send cards for birthdays, holidays or for no specific reason other than to keep in touch. We also visit them throughout the year.

Snacks or meals, whichever is appropriate, are provided for Vacation Bible School and the Lenten studies. On occasion, we have provided food for receptions and/or for families who have had an illness or death.

At each meeting, members make a voluntary offering, half of which is used to finance our projects. The remaining half is given to the Guild of St. George.

We meet the third Thursday of each month, September through May, at 1:30pm in the church parlor.

Our meetings include a short business session, a time for study of a religious nature and concludes with a time for socializing and dessert.

We extend an invitation to any woman of the parish to join us.

Alec Greaves Brotherhood of St. Andrew

Every second Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m., the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, also known as the Alec Greaves’ Men’s Group, gets together for prayer, worship, fellowship and conversation. The group also takes on various service projects as needed throughout the year. Contact the church office for more information.

Greeters & Oblationers

Members of St. John’s have numerous opportunities to become involved in the activities and outreach programs of the church. Many of our parishioners have chosen to become a part of the Go Team (Greet and Oblation).

The Greeters at St. John’s are friendly, outgoing people, who are an important part of the ministry to greet newcomers, guests, and parishioners who come through the doors of our church. The Go Team also presents the bread and wine (oblations, or offerings) to the celebrant at the altar as part of our Eucharist service .

The Go Team schedule is prepared quarterly. Normally, Go Team members serve once or twice a quarter.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild is a group of specially trained men and women who are dedicated to proper care of the Altar, the sacred vessels, vestments and linens used in the celebration of the liturgy. From week to week the members of the Altar Guild provide many hours of work “behind the scenes”, quietly preparing the Sanctuary. Anyone interested may join by contacting the clergy or altar guild directress.

Flower Guild

St. John’s also has a dedicated group of people who carefully arrange flowers for Sunday and special services. Contact the altar guild directress for more information.
